Lumora is private by design. It needs no account, shows no ads and doesn’t track you across apps or websites. Your focus sessions, tasks and universe live on your iPhone and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your own private iCloud. The little that does leave your device — anonymous usage statistics and, if you buy Lumora+, your purchase status — is described below. Lumora is developed by Mobapp Tech (“we”, “us”, “our”).
At a glance
- No account needed. Signing in with Apple is optional and shares only your name, which stays on your device.
- Your data stays yours. Sessions, intentions, tasks and your universe are stored on your iPhone and, if you choose, in your private iCloud — which only you can read, not us.
- No ads, no tracking. We never collect the advertising identifier (IDFA), never sell data and never use it for advertising.
- Anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off. We use Google Analytics for Firebase to see which features are used. It never receives what you type, and you can switch it off in Settings › Data › Share usage data.
- Lumora+ goes through Apple. Your payment details stay with Apple; RevenueCat tells the app whether Lumora+ is active, using an anonymous ID.
- Focusing together shares the minimum. Only your first name and the session’s length and start time are shared, and only with the friend who has your room code. Rooms expire after a few hours.
1. What stays on your device
The following is stored on your iPhone (and on your Apple Watch, if you use the Lumora watch app):
- Your focus sessions: when they started, how long they lasted, the intention you typed and the category you chose
- Your tasks, preferences, achievements and Odyssey progress (stardust, worlds, ranks and your ship)
- Your universe: the stars, constellations and planets your sessions created
- The state of a running timer, so a session survives if the app is closed
- Your name, if you add one or sign in with Apple
We never receive any of it. Deleting the app, or Settings › Erase all data in Lumora, removes it.
2. What leaves your device
2.1 iCloud sync (optional)
If iCloud is set up on your device, Lumora can keep your sessions, tasks, preferences, achievements and Odyssey progress in sync across your iPhone and iPad. This uses Apple’s CloudKit private database, which belongs to your iCloud account: only you can read it — Mobapp Tech cannot see it. Your universe is then redrawn on each device from your sessions.
You can turn sync off at any time in Settings › iCloud in Lumora. Erasing all data in Lumora also erases it from iCloud. Data in iCloud is handled under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
2.2 Usage statistics (you can turn them off)
To understand which parts of Lumora people use and where it can improve, we use Google Analytics for Firebase. It receives:
- What you do in the app, as events: for example that a focus session started, finished or ended early (with its length and category, such as Work or Study), that a star or planet was born, which screens were opened, which settings changed, and steps in the Lumora+ purchase flow
- A few coarse traits, such as your Lumora+ plan, your daily goal and universe size in broad ranges, and whether iCloud sync or the distraction shield is on
- Technical information Firebase adds: a random ID for this installation, device model, iOS and app version, language, and an approximate country or city derived from your IP address
It never receives your intentions, task titles, your name, room codes or anything else you type. Lumora uses the version of the Firebase SDK without the advertising identifier: the IDFA is never collected, the vendor identifier (IDFV) collection is turned off, ad personalisation signals are disabled, and nothing is used for advertising or to track you across apps. The statistics aren’t linked to your name, email or Apple ID.
You can turn usage statistics off at any time in Settings › Data › Share usage data; Lumora then stops sending events.
2.3 Lumora+ purchases (optional)
Lumora+ is bought through the App Store, so your payment details stay with Apple and never reach us. We use RevenueCat to manage purchases: an anonymous ID that RevenueCat creates for this installation and the purchase history the App Store reports (product, price, currency, dates, trial, renewal, cancellation and refund status) are shared with RevenueCat so Lumora can unlock, restore and keep Lumora+ active. Lumora never sends RevenueCat your name or email.
So that our reports include renewals, cancellations and refunds the app itself never sees, the random Firebase installation ID is also shared with RevenueCat, which forwards those subscription events to Google Analytics for Firebase. You can manage or cancel a subscription any time in your Apple ID settings (Settings › your name › Subscriptions).
2.4 Sign in with Apple (optional)
Lumora works fully without an account. If you choose “Continue with Apple”, we request only your name — never your email address. Your name is used to personalise your universe and stays on your device. An anonymous Apple user identifier is kept in your iCloud Keychain so Lumora remembers that you signed in; it is never sent to us. There is no Lumora server account: signing out in Settings › Account forgets it, and you can also stop using Sign in with Apple for Lumora in your Apple ID settings.
2.5 Focusing together (optional)
When you invite a friend to focus together, Lumora creates a temporary room in Apple’s CloudKit public database for Lumora. The room holds only your first name (so your friend knows who invited them), the session length and the moment it starts, and the room code. A room can only be found with its code, which you share yourself (for example by message). Rooms expire after a few hours, and nothing else about you — no session history, tasks, intentions or universe — is shared.
3. Distraction shield (optional)
If you turn on the distraction shield, Lumora uses Apple’s Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Managed Settings and Device Activity), only after you grant permission. You pick the apps, categories and websites in Apple’s own picker, and Lumora receives only opaque tokens from it — it never learns the names of the apps or sites you choose, and it doesn’t see your app usage. Your picks are shielded only during a focus session, stay on your device and are never sent to us. Usage statistics only record whether the shield is on. You can turn the shield off, or remove Lumora’s Screen Time access, at any time in Settings.
4. Notifications, widgets, Siri and your Apple Watch
- Notifications (for example “session complete”) are scheduled locally on your iPhone. We don’t send marketing notifications.
- Widgets and Live Activities read a small summary (today’s focus, the running timer) from storage shared only between Lumora and its own extensions on your device.
- Siri, Shortcuts and Focus filters are handled by Apple on your device; Lumora only receives the action you asked for, such as “start a 25 minute focus”.
- Apple Watch: the timer state is exchanged directly between your iPhone and your paired Apple Watch.
5. Sharing and exporting
When you share your universe or a moment, or export your data from Settings, Lumora hands the content to the iOS share sheet or file picker. Nothing is shared unless you choose where it goes.
6. What we keep
Lumora has no server of its own and we don’t keep any personal information about you. What exists outside your devices is held by the providers below: usage statistics in Google Analytics for Firebase, purchase records at RevenueCat and Apple, and — in Apple’s iCloud — your private sync data (if sync is on) and any focus-together room while it exists.
7. Service providers
These providers help us run Lumora and only receive what is described above:
| Provider | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | App Store purchases, iCloud / CloudKit sync and focus-together rooms, Sign in with Apple, Screen Time | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | Anonymous usage statistics | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| RevenueCat | Lumora+ purchase management | revenuecat.com/privacy |
We don’t sell information or share it for advertising. We would only disclose information when we are legally required to — for example to comply with a court order or a valid request from a public authority — or when it is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, Mobapp Tech or others.
If Mobapp Tech or Lumora is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganisation or sale of assets, the limited information described in this policy may be transferred as part of that transaction. The new owner would have to keep protecting it as this policy describes, and we would let you know through the app or this page.
8. How long information is kept
- On your devices: until you erase it in Lumora or delete the app.
- In your private iCloud: until you erase all data in Lumora or delete it from your iCloud settings.
- Focus-together rooms: a few hours.
- Usage statistics: at most 14 months.
- Purchase records: kept by Apple and RevenueCat while needed to manage Lumora+ and as the law requires.
9. Security
All data Lumora sends travels over encrypted connections. Data on your device is protected by iOS data protection, and iCloud data is protected by Apple. We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. Keeping your devices up to date and protected with a passcode helps keep your data safe.
10. Children
Lumora is suitable for all ages. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children, nothing in Lumora is used for advertising, and usage statistics can be turned off in Settings.
11. Your choices
- Usage statistics: turn them off in Settings › Data › Share usage data.
- iCloud sync: turn it off in Settings › iCloud.
- Lumora+: manage or cancel it in Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone; restore a purchase from Settings › Lumora+.
- Everything on your device: Settings › Erase all data, or delete the app. You can also export your data first.
12. Your rights
Because we don’t store personal information about you, there is usually nothing for us to access or correct, and you control your own data from within the app. You can still ask us to delete the usage statistics and purchase records tied to your anonymous IDs, object to usage statistics, or ask any question about your privacy, at support@mobapptech.com — we reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example Türkiye under KVKK, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California), you have the right to access, delete or object to the processing of your information, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, we rely on contract (providing Lumora and the Lumora+ purchase you choose) and legitimate interests (anonymous usage statistics to improve the app, which you can switch off at any time).
13. International transfers
Our service providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, these transfers are protected by safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy — for example if we add a feature that works differently — we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.
