This Privacy Policy explains how Haunt – Recent Follow Tracker (“Haunt”, “the app”) handles information when you use it on iPhone or iPad. Haunt is developed by Mobapp Tech (“we”, “us”, “our”).
Haunt is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.
At a glance
- No sign-up. Haunt never asks for your name, email address, phone number or Instagram password.
- Public information only. Haunt looks up publicly available Instagram profile information. It never accesses private messages or your Instagram account.
- Scores are calculated on your device. No profile data or photos are sent to artificial-intelligence services.
- No selling, no ads, no tracking. We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
1. Information we process
1.1 Usernames you search for or track
When you search for an Instagram username or add a profile to track, the app sends that username to our data provider (see Section 5) to retrieve publicly available profile information — for example the display name, profile picture, follower and following counts, and public follower and following lists. These requests are made directly from your device, so the provider also receives your device’s IP address.
1.2 Information stored on your device
Your tracked profiles (up to five), their activity history, weekly recaps, scores and app settings are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes this information.
1.3 Information stored on our servers
To send you alerts, the app keeps a small record in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore. The record is identified by a random ID created on your device and is not linked to your name or contact details.
| Information | Why we keep it |
|---|---|
| Random device ID | Identifies the record |
| Push notification token | Delivers alerts to your device |
| Subscription status | Background checks are a Haunt Plus feature |
| Tracked usernames (Haunt Plus only, up to five) | Lets our server check tracked profiles while the app is closed |
| IDs of the accounts each tracked profile follows (Haunt Plus only) | The baseline our server compares against to detect new follows |
| Time of the last update and last check | Schedules the checks |
If you do not have an active Haunt Plus subscription, the tracked usernames and follow data in this record are cleared.
1.4 Usage and diagnostic information
To understand how the app is used and to fix problems, we collect:
- App usage events (Firebase Analytics) — for example which screens you open, buttons you tap and the steps of a purchase. Some events include the Instagram username you searched for, viewed or started tracking.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) and performance data (Firebase Performance Monitoring).
- Device information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language and approximate country.
- App integrity checks (Firebase App Check), which confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the app.
1.5 Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use Adapty to manage subscription status; it receives an anonymous customer ID and the details of your App Store transactions. We never receive your payment card details.
2. How the scores work
The Flirt Score, the breakdown of who a profile recently followed and similar insights are calculated on your device by simple formulas that use public profile statistics. The split into “girls” and “guys” is estimated only from first names, using a name list bundled with the app that is built from public-domain U.S. Social Security Administration baby-name statistics.
These insights are estimates for entertainment. They can be wrong, and they are not a statement about anyone’s identity, gender or behaviour.
3. Information about other people
Haunt shows publicly available information about the Instagram profiles you look up. We do not keep this information on our servers, except the usernames and follow data described in Section 1.3 for Haunt Plus subscribers. Please use Haunt respectfully and in line with Instagram’s terms. If you believe Haunt shows information about you that should be removed, contact us and we will help.
4. How we use information
- To show profile information, activity and insights in the app
- To check tracked profiles and send you alerts (Haunt Plus)
- To process and restore subscriptions
- To measure and improve the app, and to diagnose crashes and performance problems
- To protect the app and our services from abuse
- To comply with legal obligations
5. Service providers
We share information only with the providers that help us run Haunt, and only for the purposes below:
| Provider | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, push notifications, remote configuration, app integrity checks, database and server functions | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| RapidAPI and its “Instagram Social API” data provider | Retrieves publicly available Instagram profile information | rapidapi.com/privacy |
| Adapty | Subscription management | adapty.io/privacy |
| Apple | Payments and delivery of push notifications | apple.com/legal/privacy |
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of our users or ourselves.
6. Tracking and advertising
Haunt contains no advertising and does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, so it does not ask for tracking permission.
7. How long we keep information
- On your device: until you delete the app.
- Server record (Section 1.3): while you use the app. Tracked usernames and follow data are cleared when you are not subscribed. You can ask us to delete the whole record at any time.
- Usage and diagnostic data: for a limited period according to Firebase’s retention settings (crash reports are kept for about 90 days).
8. Push notifications
With your permission, Haunt sends alerts about tracked profiles. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Notifications → Haunt on your device. The rest of the app keeps working.
9. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, our database cannot be read by the app, and server access is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Children
Haunt is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California — you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Because Haunt does not collect your name or email address, we may ask for details that help us find your data. Contact us at support@mobapptech.com and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, we rely on these legal bases: contract (providing the app and your subscription), legitimate interests (analytics, security and fixing problems) and consent (push notifications). You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
12. International transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, these transfers are protected by safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
